Atwoli Opens Up About His “Stingy” Son: “Anakuwacha Hivyo”
COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has given Kenyans a glimpse into his family life after revealing that his eldest son, Prof. Lukoye Atwoli, has a very different approach to money.
Speaking at a public event, Atwoli humorously described his son as someone who is strict with his finances and follows a carefully planned budget.
According to Atwoli, Lukoye sometimes earns more than him but does not operate with the same generosity his father is known for. He said his son prefers to plan his spending and stick to his budget.
Atwoli also recalled his son's message to people who approach him expecting the same generosity they receive from his father: “Don't mistake me to be my dad.”
The remarks have attracted attention online, with Kenyans amused by the contrast between the father and son.
Atwoli, however, appeared to use the story to make a broader point: children should not necessarily be judged by the standards or lifestyle of their parents.
